Somewhere between the wheel and the kiln, a lump of earth becomes something you'll reach for every morning.

I'm Lauren. I've been making that happen from my studio in Austin, Texas since 2021 — though the obsession started much earlier, in a community studio class in 2007 that I never really recovered from.

For twenty years I worked as a Speech Pathologist, throwing pots on the side, all the while going deeper into the craft. In 2021 I made it official. Hey Moon Ceramics is what happens when two decades of curiosity, discipline, and love for the process finally get the full-time attention they deserve.

Every piece is wheel-thrown, hand-painted, and fired by me — start to finish, in my Austin studio. The same hands that center the clay are the ones that sign off on each piece before it ships.

I also pour small-batch scented candles into handmade ceramic vessels — each one a pairing of form and fragrance, made with US-grown soy and carefully sourced oils. When the wax is gone, the vessel stays.

Opening the kiln never gets old. Every firing is a small act of faith — you do everything right, and then you wait. That tension, and the moment it releases, is why I keep coming back. I hope you feel some of that in whatever piece finds its way to you.

Hand washing recommended.

Hey Moon ceramics are wheel-thrown and hand painted. Please keep in mind that no two items will be exactly alike (pieces are “sisters not twins”), and some variation is to be expected.

During the glaze firing process, there are many factors that might lead a piece to vary somewhat from the picture shown, including variance in application of glaze, placement in the kiln, and how the glaze interacts with the stains or other glazes on the piece.
