The Calendar Project by Five Metal Shop is an experiment to see how an almost obsolete object with a quiet cultural significance might be brought back and made relevant again in a modern context by using modern printing, papers. Illustrations and design. 2024 is year of the Dragon. 12 patterns in the beginning page of each month will be able to link into a form of their graphic translation on this imaginary creature. More than 80 illustrations throughout the calendar highlight the special days such as Lunar New Year, Christmas, Easter and some of them, reminders of the season change as mid-summer’s day harvest or plowing days because one of the key function of an almanac in Asia, especially in agricultural societies, is an index of the weather relating to farm activities.
